LEGADO MILENARIO
The strategic location of today's Huelva capital, surrounded by its 2 rivers (Tinto and Odiel) and close to the Atlantic, have made it considered the oldest settlement in the West along with the sister city of Cádiz. The multiple findings attest to this, both in its unique heads, the old town or its estuary.
A good sign of this weight in history is also given by many enclaves in municipalities of our Sierra, our County, our Coast, our Mining Basin or our Andévalo.
Tartessos, Phoenicians, Romans, Muslims, etc.... chose this privileged corner that is our province, attracted by its unbeatable natural wealth and world fame (Riotinto and Tharsis mines as flagships of our mining), with the plus that it always contributed its Port as an exit to the world.
At HUMBLE GREATNESS we gladly strive to disseminate and be proud of our History in order to be able to accurately assess the magnitude of our patrimonial inheritance that many times, because it is hidden or disappeared, we mistakenly minimize in our memory.
ONE FOR 80 AND 80 FOR ONE
After the Decree of 11/30/1833, Huelva was built as a province with its capital in the municipality of the same name, with the arguments such as being a sea port, through which the productions of this part of Andalusia and Extremadura are exported.
Constituted as one of the 8 Andalusian provinces bordered to the north by Badajoz, to the east by Seville and the Guadalquivir, to the south by the Atlantic Ocean and to the west by Portugal. Thus, the transition from the previous Kingdoms of Seville, Córdoba, Granada and Jaén to this new model of territorial administrative division took place.
In 1835 the Provincial Deputation of Huelva began its existence, whose economy was agricultural, livestock and fundamentally fishing; but its main wealth was in its subsoil that hid millions of tons of metals. This mining power came to place us at the national head of railway infrastructures at the service of the exploitation of said mines and their transfer to the Port of Huelva for their departure by ship.
From HUMBLE GREATNESS we will focus on those 80 "huelvas" and that unique Huelva, which unites the 80-piece puzzle with more common identity than we are often aware of.
NATURALLY SMOOTH
One of the pillars that make the province of Huelva special is that it has 450,000 hectares of protected natural spaces, almost 50% of the provincial territory inhabited by its 500,000 lucky ones.
Most of DOÑANA is located in the province of Huelva and is, together with MARISMAS DEL ODIEL, the main wintering and breeding habitat for migratory birds between Africa and Europe, with more than 300 different species as a unique ornithological destination.
It is also idyllic to have in this same province the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche full of trails (600 km), with the Tinto Nature Trail and its biodiversity of microscopic organisms on our own planet Marte Huelvano, with the Lepera Flecha from Nueva Umbría in front of the cartayero El Rompido, like a postcard from a Mannero story, is that coastline of 122 km. of Huelva coast between the mouths of the Guadiana and Guadalquivir rivers.
